well, there's nothing more disgusting and suffocating than being around a bunch of tourists; ( as opposed to travellers ) / i lived in key west, florida for many years, and it became devastating; the company air b and b has destroyed the sense of community there, "dying by a thousand cuts", as a citizen who grew up there, had said to me, because the air b and b bought up so many of the former houses and residences.... so no regular street has normal people living there any more~
and so the enormous cruise ships stop and let off the herds of people every few hours, and they spill off the ships like herds of devouring swine....
i hadn't known about the status of these old european cities! it sounds like it is similar to what i had seen/felt in the united states.. they have demoted themselves to the state of swine, not humans... even possessed swine, i'd say~ ego possessed, and then the internet and cell phones exaggerate the condition even to the next level of exhibitionism of this behavior
/ this deserves to be thought about and written about even more... yes, it wounds the people who actually live in these places and it desecrates the locations...taking away the real spirit of the place; which may likely never return
